The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) Trust is seeking a Student Services and University Relations Representative (SSUR)to join our team. The AVMA Trust provides professional liability insurance, life and disability coverage, as well as other important benefits to eligible SAVMA members completing their veterinary education in the US and beyond.
The role of the SSUR Representative is an essential component of the unified AVMA Trust strategy. The goal of this position is to oversee outreach to future AVMA members and insureds as early as 3 years prior to their admission to veterinary school through graduation and the transition into the members’ professional life. The development of the value of AVMA membership, AVMA Trust brand awareness, product awareness, and engagement with educational content helps to develop future members, insureds and educated consumers. This position will be field based, and the successful candidate may reside within the contiguous United States with access to a major airport. Preference will be given to candidates in the western half of the United States. This position will include significant (~50%) travel in support of the goals.
Goals of this position
Collaborate, promote and support the mission and vision of the AVMA Trust
Increase member value of the products and services offered by the AVMA Trust in support of SAVMA membership.
Grow SAVMA member engagement with complimentary life and veterinary student professional liability offerings as a gateway to member engagement and development.
Grow educational impact of AVMA Trust through outreach at schools with SAVMA chapters and associate groups.
Support fiscal responsibility in support of overall operations.
Activities
Support member development in coordination with the Head of Student Services and University Relations.
Provide recruitment support to assigned SAVMA Chapters.
Provide educational support to assigned SAVMA members.
Provide outreach support to veterinary college leadership at assigned veterinary colleges highlighting the role of the AVMA Trust as a trusted partner for the veterinary profession.
Collaborate with AVMA Trust Veterinary team to develop and support educational content delivered through curricular, peri-curricular and extra-curricular channels.
Collaborate with AVMA Trust Marketing team to develop social media content and other support materials appropriate for the life cycle of the veterinary student beginning with pre-matriculation through graduation and transition to professional.
Collaborate with AVMA Trust Member Experience Officer, Trust Operations Manager, and broker partners to coordinate and support student experience.
Collaborate with broker partners to monitor reporting of student and graduate engagement. Share feedback around student engagement with appropriate leadership and support teams at schools as requested.
Collaborate with AVMA Trust team and external partners to evaluate and support product development that will build the value of the AVMA Trust to current and future veterinary students.
Collaborate with AVMA Student Initiatives Team to identify opportunities for coordination in student and new graduate outreach and strive for a seamless student experience.
Provide oversight and coordination for campus directed activities at assigned colleges in coordination with Head of Student Services and University Relations.
Provide direct outreach activities in support of assigned veterinary programs through participation in curricular, peri-curricular and extra-curricular outreach as appropriate to each school.
Continuously seek to contribute to the growth and overall development of the AVMA Trust.

Education and Background
The ideal candidate will enjoy collaborating with a diverse team of internal and external partners to support the growth and development of future veterinarians. The individual will gain satisfaction from identifying unique goals for individual situations and managing multiple timelines with a supportive and collaborative approach towards achieving these goals simultaneously.
Demonstrated background and experience:
DVM or equivalent degree with diverse knowledge of the veterinary profession
3 or more years of clinical experience
Experience in an academic setting strongly preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong time management
Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines with minimal supervision
Ability to teach, coach and mentor student members
