Broken Bow Animal Hospital is looking to hire an associate large animal veterinarian! Our 2 DVM + 4 support staff (2 of which are LVTs) practice is located in Broken Bow in central Nebraska. Our two partner veterinarians are Dr. Jack Smith (Neb-ISU 2013) and Dr. McKenzie Hendricks (Neb-ISU 2021).
Broken Bow is a progressive and growing small town of approximately 3,500 residents. This community has many resources available for a young professional or young family! Broken Bow has a hospital with emergency services and advanced diagnostics, medical clinic, public school system, multiple churches, grocery store, many restaurants and fast food options, public library, fitness center, clothing boutiques, coffee shops, and so much more! We are also close to multiple rivers, lakes, and outdoor areas for tubing, boating, fishing, and hunting! Multiple “big cities” are nearby as well: Kearney (65 mi), Grand Island (80 mi), and North Platte (75 mi).
Our practice is comprised of >95% beef cattle work, primarily cow-calf but also some small feedlots and backgrounders, and the local sale barn.We also work on ranch horses and occasionally see ranch dogs and cats for spays/neuters and vaccines. We do not take any small animal emergency calls.
Our clients are progressive and well-educated beef producers who highly value their veterinarians for beef production medicine and consultation. After hour emergency calls are limited as our producers can manage most common situations themselves. We do not take any small animal emergencies! Our work is highly seasonal with majority producers calving in the spring. We have haul-in facilities as well as ambulatory facilities to work on clients’ ranches. There is lots of room to expand our services and we welcome you to find your niche and passion in large animal practice.
4th year veterinary students and recent graduates are welcome to apply! We provide preceptorships for students interested in this position and those interested in beef cattle practice.
Our practice area has been previously listed as an “area of need” for Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program (VMLRP) ($120,000 grant) and would be eligible for Nebraska’s Rural Veterinary Grant Program ($150,000 grant). We would help you apply for these opportunities!
Early career buy-in opportunity is available for the right individual!
If you are interested in applying for an associate large animal position at Broken Bow Animal Hospital, please send your resume to mhendricksdvm@gmail.com or call Dr. McKenzie Hendricks at 308-872-5281. We can’t wait to meet you!
