Seeking Part-time or Full-time Veterinarian for Privately-Owned Small Animal Practice in Plainville, Connecticut  

Are you looking for a practice where you will be recognized for your contributions and excel at high quality care?  Do you want to work for a practice with an uplifting positive culture that’s a fantastic place to work?  Look no further!  We are looking for a part-time or full-time veterinarian at Ragged Mountain Animal Hospital which has been a well-established practice in the central CT region for over 30 years. You will work with highly trained healthcare team members who will allow you to be the veterinarian you went to veterinary school to be and while making a difference in the lives of pets and their owners.  We are recently under new ownership and this current single doctor practice is in search of the right people to join and grow with our team. “Work-life balance" and "family-friendly" are not catch phrases at Ragged Mountain.  They are a part of the practice’s DNA because we are committed to caring for the people who work here and feel this is paramount.  Because of this commitment, we not only provide an awesome culture, but compensate our team well and in return have a dedicated, loyal team which has made it easier to attract and retain awesome employees. We have highly educated staff members whose education includes multiple BS in Animal Science and CVT credentials. We also train and invest in CE for our staff so they can grow in their roles and responsibilities.

Our clientele is loyal and appreciates the personal relationships that they have developed with our doctors and team so much so that they regularly state that our practice feels peaceful and welcoming.  We offer our patients and clients the latest equipment including ultrasound with telemedicine consults, a brand new upgraded digital radiography, dental radiography, in house chemistry, CBC and cytology (telemedicine) laboratory, and laser therapy. We have upgraded all of our standard equipment over the past year which includes new anesthesia and monitoring equipment and an updated electric records system (Impromed Infinity).  We also have a newly renovated office wing and exam rooms including a euthanasia/consultation room.

We offer a flexible work schedule that provides a 3.5 day workweek.  A part-time schedule would include a 2 to 2.5 day workweek. We would also be open to any PT or relief schedules that someone might be interested. Currently, we are not open on Saturdays, but if a doctor would prefer to include Saturdays as part of their workweek, we would be happy to accommodate Saturday hours. We currently see patients from 9am - 6pm, M-F with a 2 hour unscheduled block of time in the day for lunch, writing up charts, callbacks and the occasional fit in procedure.

Our doctors have always performed a broad range of surgeries but we are open to all interest levels and passions. Love surgery? Great! We have clients that trust us to perform whatever we are comfortable performing.  Dislike surgery? That’s okay.  We have doctors that love surgery. Would you like to expand on an aspect of practice that you are passionate about such as acupuncture, chiropractic and/or exotic medicine - we are more than open to growing together in whatever direction feels right.  Although experience is ideal, a new or recent graduate will be welcomed as mentoring will be offered.  

Our benefits package is plentiful but we are more interested in what benefits you desire and open to considering a package that meets your individual needs.  However, here is a glimpse into the benefits we currently offer: Health insurance, 401K with employer match, CE allowance, Paid Time Off, allowances for most sought after dues and licenses.  We are open to discussing the most common methods of compensation including hourly, salary and ProSal.

Plainville, CT is a small city about 15 minutes west of Hartford CT. It is 2 hour drive to Boston MA and New York City, NY. Within a 30 minute commute you could live in an urban environment, suburban or even more forested or rural areas.  There are opportunities close by for virtually any passion or hobby.
