The Veterinary Population Medicine Department at the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine, is recruiting a food animal veterinary diagnostician. This position will be an annually renewable faculty at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The final rank and terms of appointment will depend on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate consistent with collegiate and University policies.

The successful applicant will join our collaborative team of pathologists and highly skilled technical staff dedicated to the pursuit of diagnostic excellence at the University of Minnesota Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. The duties of the position will be heavily focused on food animal submissions (e.g., swine, bovine, ovine, and farmed cervids), providing diagnostic services for food animal practitioners and producers, and communicating results and providing interpretation to submitters (clinical faculty, practicing veterinarians, researchers, animal owners, and regulatory agency officials). Additional duties include teaching professional students (i.e., DVM), resident/house officer, and graduate students within the pathology and food animal curriculum or in other subjects; participation in collaborative research; and/or outreach. The actual time commitment to each of these duties is negotiable.

The Veterinary Population Medicine Department serves as the academic home to faculty members in the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. The College of Veterinary Medicine is located on the St. Paul Campus of the University of Minnesota and has a reputation for excellence in basic and applied research programs. Particular research strengths include genetics, genomics, molecular immunology, and infectious diseases. Opportunities exist for collaboration with the Schools of Medicine and Public Health of the University. With a population of nearly three million, the metropolitan area offers urban living at its best, with a blend of big-city sophistication and small-town security and comfort.

Starting salary will be dependent upon experience and qualifications. The University of Minnesota offers a highly-competitive benefits package. The starting date is negotiable based on the availability of the successful applicant and program needs. The review of applications begins immediately and continues until a suitable candidate is identified.

Qualified applicants should apply online at https://hr.myu.umn.edu/jobs/ext/353326 (Job ID 353326) and include curriculum vitae, letter of intent, diversity statement (see below), and the names and contact information of three references.

The University of Minnesota’s College of Veterinary Medicine seeks to recruit qualified clinicians who will benefit from interactions with peers of different backgrounds and who have different life experiences, perspectives, and goals in order to prepare professionals for dealing effectively in an increasingly diverse and global workforce. The College is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and inclusive excellence of the academic community and support the College's efforts to embrace principles of inclusion, equity, justice, and diversity.

Applicants with demonstrated participation in diversity and inclusion issues are strongly encouraged to apply. The University of Minnesota provides equal access to and opportunity in its programs, facilities, and employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, gender, age, marital status, disability, public assistance status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
