Emergency/Associate Position

Opportunity to work with Specialists at this family-owned hybrid hospital!

Imagine being excited to go to work, feeling engaged and invested in the success of the hospital, and knowing you are appreciated, valued, and rewarded for doing what you love… emergency medicine. Hickory Veterinary and Specialty Hospital is family-owned and was recently passed down to the third generation. It is located in the beautiful Philadelphia suburbs of southern Montgomery County, PA. Our hospital has been offering predominantly primary care with emergency/urgent care and intermittent specialty services, but given the overwhelming demand we are in the process of expanding to become a full specialty and 24/7 emergency hospital. Our clients and referral community are begging for more from us, so we have recently hired a full time, experienced criticalist, surgeon, and neurologist. We are actively recruiting for other specialists, and we are now looking to fill in the most important part… the ER vets! We already have all the equipment (e.g., ultrasound, oxygen cages, in-house lab, endoscopy, 64-slice CT, referral base) and we are perched and ready to expand into 24/7 emergency and specialty care. We want you to get in on the ground floor and be an integral part of this expansion. Our goal is to provide excellent patient care with a team of individuals whose company we enjoy and who care about maintaining personalized medicine in a field where corporations are becoming hard to avoid.

We know the ER is the heart and soul of a hospital and our focus will be ER veterinarian work-life balance and sustainability. We have a team approach to client service, patient care, and getting the work done - work together and smarter, not alone and harder. Our ER vets will average closer to 30 than 40 hours per week; and while nights and weekends are often part of being an ER vet, we pride ourselves in making things fair, in rigorously open and honest communication, and ensuring associate satisfaction and sustainability. Because we are truly a full-service hospital, offering primary, emergency, and specialty care, there is also the option of working a mixture of primary care shifts and ER shifts for even more variety and job satisfaction, all while being alongside our specialists. Of course, sticking to just ER (or primary care) is always an option. There will be ample PTO for personal time and continuing education (120 hours per year) and generous CE reimbursement. There is obviously competitive pay plus production and sign-on bonus and a full benefits package, but the true clincher is being a crucial part of the amazing team we are building and the opportunity to feel valued, engaged, and rewarded in our family-owned hospital.

Relocation and housing available and negotiable!
